Massage is an ancient therapy used by the Chinese in 3000BC.
In Greece in the 5th century and in Japan in the 6th century, massage was  developed further.
Per Henrik Ling was a Swedish fencing master who studied ancient Chinese medical writings and from this, he developed what we now know as Swedish massage.

Our courses are priced to be affordable for all. We offer smaller classes, making sure you get individual attention from the tutor. We also offer 1-2-1 lessons.

For all courses you attend by Natural Therapy Studio & Natural Beauty Studio

Our Massage/Holistic Therapy/Beauty courses are priced to be accessible and affordable for all. Everyone who has an interest in massage, beauty and therapy should be able to attend and learn about massage, beauty and therapy if they wish. We have combined home study with a day practical training to keep the cost down. Aimed more at the mature student not wishing to go back to traditional College with the younger students. Also for students who are very busy. We also have a FREE video offer on many massage courses. This is a reference DVD showing the massage routine that you will/have learnt on the course we can post a hard copy for extra £6.00 when booked and paid in full. Excellent for re-capping and a great visual aid for learners. Our classes are small no more than 4 students per class. Average is 1-2 students (we do offer 1-2-1 private classes also) Your case studies/practice is done at home in your own time after the course.

Each student will receive an excellent course training manual, emailed prior to course date to print off. This covers the course material and all techniques you will learn on the day. This makes it easier for you to remember the routine without having to make notes on the day. After the course training day, you are required to practice on family and friends until you are confident you’ll be able to give the massage / therapy both safely and effectively. We make sure you gain enough practice on the training day to remember the technique.

Home Study - All courses have question to be answered before the course. This requires pre course reading of the manual.

Our tutors are always available by email or phone if you need aftercare and help after your practical training day.

Our courses are registered and accredited with the UK governing bodies the CMA - (Complementary Medical Association) and The IICT and accreditation with insurance PBD (Professional Beauty Direct) & Westminster Indemnity insurance. This allows you to obtain insurance and practice on the general public and be able to charge in the UK for your service.(our courses follow the guidelines set by the National Occupational Standards)

You will receive a Diploma certificate after completing the course

Our One-Day Diploma Courses are ideal for beginners to start as a therapist or for experienced therapists to offer another popular therapy to their clients.

Therapists can also gain CPD points (Continuing Professional Development)

On our courses you will receive a Natural Therapy Studio Diploma on completion of the course. (unless an introduction course)

We offer a few Courses Conducted by our tutors: Distance learning and Reiki courses are insurable and accredited courses which allows you to obtain insurance.

Q. Size of classes - If only one person is booked in will it still go ahead?

Yes we still go ahead with the class. A minimum of 1 students is need to run the course. We specialise in small classes to ensure one-to-one tuition. We also provide private lessons on a 1-2-1 basis in most areas. You would need to bring a model to work on.

Many other course providers offer larger classes with 15 or more people in them. They learn the same technique but as the classes are larger it takes longer to teach, thus making it more expensive and more training days.

Our one-day courses only take a maximum of 6 students per class. We have 1 day pre-study before each course done at home.

Q. How can I learn everything in one day?

You would already have read the workbook training manual before attending the practical training day.

This covers Anatomy and Physiology, Health & Safety, Contraindications, History of the Massage/beauty treatment, Client Consultation, Insurance and much more. On the days training, we concentrate mainly on the practical and learning the massage/beauty sequence.

Q. Do I need Anatomy & Physiology or Previous Experience in Massage to attend your Courses?

Anatomy & Physiology is NOT required by the insurance companies for some of our courses, as all relevent A&P in each manual and these courses are suitable for beginners as well as experienced therapists. If a course does have entry requirements or previous experience needed it will state on the course page.

We do recommend also completing an Anatomy & Physiology Diploma Level 3 Diploma Course @ £285 for massage. We offer theses as a home study/distance learning course.

Q. When will I get my certificate and what will it say?

Your Digital certificate is emailed once your tutor confirms you have successfully passed the course, only once you/student has demonstrated that they have absorbed the information presented during the day and after applying a satisfactory treatment observed by the tutor. (Final exam and assessment) and completion of question paper required. You will receive a Natural Therapy Studio Diploma

To ensure that we carry out good practice, should the tutor feel that you would benefit from further training, your certification will be held back and you will offered the opportunity to come back for another assessment. Students who do not reach the required standard on the training day will be asked to go away and do some case studies and return for another final assessment. (You will need to pay the tutor for an extra hour of their time) Or you may be required to pay in FULL again and do the course again?

Q. What are CPD Points?

All our courses have been awarded CPD points (Continuing Professional Development). There are a certain amount of points required by the various Governing Bodies (IFPA, FHT, BABTAC etc) to ensure that members are continually learning and up to date with various therapies. If you are a new student you do not need to worry about CPD points.

Q. Do we have a Final Exam

On the practical training day. You will be required to complete a final exam, an assessment of the routine, you have learnt.

All courses have question to be answered before the course. This requires some pre course reading of the manual, emailed prior to course date.

Q. Do I need to bring anything to the course?

This is a list of what may be required to bring to your course with you. Your tutor will let you know before the course.

- Do not wear jewelry

- X2 large towels to sufficiently cover your body for massage (Body, Hot stone, Thai Herb, Aroma, Bamboo, Sports, Lymphatic Drainage, Pregnancy, Ky Nye)

- X2 hand towels to wrap placement stones (Body, Hot stone, Thai Herb, Aroma, Sports, Bamboo)

Q. Moblie Tuition Service

Mobile Tuition

We realise that it may not always be possible for you to travel to our venues to attend a courses. The Natural Therapy Studio offers a Mobile Tutor service.
To qualify for our service, there should be a minimum of four students who want to learn. All you need to do is provide the venue, a salon or private home.
You also need to supply chairs or couches, then we can come to you. *Travel and tutor accommodation payable between students.*

Warm Bamboo Massage course

I would like to give you some feedback on the warm bamboo massage that I attended in Fife.

The location The establishment was spacious, nicely laid out & lovely decor (even down to the toilet facilities) The therapy room was again nice, neat uncluttered and felt quite cosey & relaxing with ample room to carry out a good massage.
Course content It was fantastic having the manual & DVD to study before the day of the course, and afterwards for reference. The manual is comprehensive, covering more than just the massage itself and on the training day it is a good pace & learning a lot more than what one may expect in one day.
The Tutor The tutor Stefeny, had a very nice manner about her, she was friendly and approachable. She was very knowledgeable about warm bamboo massage as she explained & answered the questions fully and also the offered further on-going support after the course.

Body massage course

Hi Tara,

The Body massage course was brilliant, went so fast I never noticed the time all day.

Sharon was detailed and took her time with all of us to ensure we knew the techniques and sequence. I cant think of any improvements as I enjoyed the whole day.

Many thanks for your patience on Monday. I really enjoyed the course and can't really think of any way of making it better - I think it was helpful that there were only two of us and we could have individual attention but the pace was good and I came away feeling that I could start treating clients straight away. I think it also helps being in a "home" situation rather than a classroom - not so intimidating! You were very welcoming and it was easy to relax.

Thanks so much again for a wonderful day. I have to say that I really do enjoy coming down to you and the 3 hour journey is most definitely worthwhile. As you know from previous conversations, I have a particular ‘thing’ against feet – I don’t like my feet being touched, but even worse, I hate touching other people’s feet. You made everything so friendly and natural that I managed to get through the course when I doubted myself. Touching somebody elses feet was a big thing for me. I actually felt like being sick but I shut that out and listened to your voice (which was very calming) and took on board what everyone else was saying......and please put this in your testimonials if you think it will help others..........and I managed to do what I didn't think I could and I'm so glad that I did.
I can’t wait to book onto the Oriental Hand Massage now.
Please don’t change the way that you do this course as, for a ‘foot phobic’ like me, it was perfect.

Yes I did really enjoy the IHM course. I thought it was very informative and Jeanne explained everything we needed to know.
I dont think you could improve on the course as I thought it was really good just having a small group - informal and good 1 to 1 info. and practise....I didn't feel hurried and felt the course was invaluable..

It was lovely to meet you too. I thoroughly enjoyed the course.
I found the pace at which we worked to be just right. It enabled us to have lots of hands on experience which is what was needed.
Time wasn't wasted with lots of pointless talking!!
My mum found it really good. She has aphasia following a stroke and finds it hard to relax. She slept soundly on Sunday night following the massage.
Looks like it's a hit!!

Hopi Ear Candling

To Tara,

YES very good. Feel I could do it without much practice.
I felt very alive last night even read 3 night time stores to my Grandchildren and enjoyed doing it.
Do you remember I showed you my spotting face down each side of my chin; well this morning one side has completely disappeared. Next week I am going to get someone to do it on me again and see if the spots on the other side of my face disappear, great if it works again.
It certainly works.
